Come On Down!

So I know this band…and this band is playing at a place on the Drive in November. I always like to help promote people I know in their creative endeavors so that’s what this post is partly about. What else it’s about is still up in my head and I suppose will trickle out as I write the other stuff!

The band is called Black Ridge Choir and I believe there is no website yet (hint, hint boys, these things are important….) but check out their FB page for now. Yikes, no Twitter either! Maybe they need a PR and Marketing person….hint, hint….ANYWAY, Black Ridge Choir is playing at Falconetti’s on the Drive November 23. The band consists of 4 local guys who play a variety of alt country rock/indie and definitely worth a listen to. Actually, on the FB page there is even a link to a live show they did at the Backstage Lounge a couple of weeks back.

Now, on to Falconetti’s. I want to mention for the Veg-Friendly readers out there this IS a joint you can frequent! See they have VEGGIE-FREAKING-SAUSAGES. I kid you not. Soy based, with all the trimmings…and I want some now. You can get said sausages added to the tacos or quesadilla which opens up another realm of possibilities for us. I’m so excited! There isn’t a Veggie Burger but honestly, the burger at Rogue Kitchen & Wetbar has kind of turned me off of even trying any other veg burger out there…I want something “different” if I can’t have THAT bad ass burger dammit.

Keeping in the same vein of supporting people I know, I’d like to open your eyes up to a new jam session going on in Vancouver. It’s at the Princeton Pub and every 2nd Wednesday with the next one on Halloween night. The plans for that session are still up in the air, so tune back for more details. It’s new, it’s proving to be very popular with local musicians and those with stars in their eyes and dreaming of the stage. I went to one 2 weeks ago and was floored by the talent and quite impressed with how the Princeton has changed from the place I remember long ago…great beer list, fantastic looking menu and super friendly regulars quite happy to sit and chat my ear off. I like that kind of thing. Alot. So if you’ve got nothing to do on say, every 2nd Wednesday and you fancy showing off your skills on stage come on down.

Getting to know your city, supporting local anything and meeting new people are all things that make ME happy. And if I’m happy, I’m feeling pretty healthy (remember healthy isn’t just about body, it’s about sprit and mind too).

I need more coffee. It’s too early to be this energetic…
