Just stumbled across this blog post, Have You Been for a Run Lately? The Author, Mark Vanderkam, asks some pretty important questions about how to achieve balance in our every day lives. What are we seemingly too busy to do, and how does this affect our productivity? Check it out, and then my friend, get your butt outside…
The video that got me moving…ZUMBA!
Ok everyone- it’s official….Zumba is HARD WORK. It’s an hour or so of intense dance/exercise in all styles; i.e: samba, merengue, Indian….and the list goes on. Just think of the dances from Latin America or Asia that include lots of hip and booty shaking and fast footwork. Can you picture it? I’ve discovered my rhythm is pretty much non-existent but that’s the fun of Zumba- you move at your own pace and your own comfort level. Can’t follow the moves? No worries, just MOVE and shake your hips!
I thought after last week I had a rosy glow from the workout, and yeah I sweat…but tonight I had a RED face and the sweat was running into my eyes at one point. I know, it’s a pretty picture I’m painting isn’t it? But if you’ve ever toyed with the idea of taking a fitness class but never got up the nerve or energy, I urge you to really think about it now. Your local community centres have so much to offer and even the monthly memberships are very affordable! In my area for instance, $29 a month gets me into any of the fitness classes, the pool, weight and cardio rooms. I find community centres less intimidating then a large gym as well….and those fitness classes are NOT packed with super athletic and skinny people. They’re full of real, everyday people. Like you and me.
My yoga class starts in 2 weeks and I’m so looking forward to that. I do yoga at home but am missing the group atmosphere and the peace of all that energy in one small space.
Go online to your local rec centres and community centre and see what they have to offer….just take a look. What can one little look do? Hopefully it can get your juices flowing, my body moving and your positivity soaring.
Let me know what you do!
